Signs of the Zodiac stamps

Philatelists, as well as those interested in astrology, will find their two spheres of interest combined in a unique way by Canada Post, with the issue of this delightful set of postage stamps.

Twelve stamps in all will be issued, one for each of the twelve signs of the zodiac. Thus far, these four have been issued to co-inside with the zodiac calendar. It will be a most unusual postage stamp venture because a large period of time will elapse between each stamp issue.

Details of the Canada Stamps issued so far

The four postage stamps were issued in April, May, June and July of 2011 and feature the astrology signs associated with these months. The series began with the first issue in April at the start of the Zodiac year and will run until March 2013.

Collecting the full set

Each stamp depicts the astrological sign in the Zodiac associated with its particular constellation. So far, four stamps are available for purchase from Canada Post but stamp collectors should be aware that more stamps are forthcoming and that this is a partial issue.

Cancer, the crab is depicted on this stamp. The fourth in the series of astrological sign stamps. Cancer is a water sign that is influences by the moon. A person with the zodiac influences of Cancer is said to be indecisive but they are very strong people emotionally. They avoid confrontation and are happiest in their home environs.

Gemini, the twins are depicted on this stamp. The third in the series of astrological sign stamps Gemini is an air sign that is linked with Mercury. People with the zodiac influences of Gemini are said to be youthful, lively, exuberant and happy souls.

Taurus, the bull is depicted on this stamp. The second in the series of astrological sign stamps, Taurus is an earth sign that is influences by the moon. A person with the zodiac influences of Taurus, the bull is said to be strong, steadfast and decisive but they are very willful people too.

Aries, the Ram is depicted on this stamp. The first in the series of astrological sign stamps, Aries is an earth sign and Aries begins the Zodiac cycle at the Spring Equinox. A person with the zodiac influences of Aries, the Ram, is said to be a born leader of others as well a stout defender of the rights of others.

Canadian postal authorities see the entire Zodiac collection of stunning postage stamps as an astrological learning experience for the philatelist. The rather unusual stamp issue is over a longer period than normal and Canada Post hope that collectors will enjoy the entire series as the completed set of stamps (especially if you obtain the first day covers) will show the full wheel of the zodiac in all its glory. Other issuers, such as the USPS of USA, Royal Mail UK and Australia Post have minted stamps with Astrological significance but none have done so over such a long time frame as that proposed by the Canadian stamp issuers.
