Bar stools measure between 24 to 34 inches high from the floor to the seat with additional inches to allow for the back support section. The back support is not a feature on all stools but makes for comfortable sitting.

Most usual is a bar at 40 inches high and a bar stool to match at 28 inches. A casual furniture kitchen table (30 inches) would have a matching kitchen chair at 18 inches high. Motels, clubs and bars are decorated and remodeled regularly and bar stools are designed to suit many eclectic styles. Quite often these stools will have a swivel seat feature but the swivel bar stool is quite a bit more expensive if you are considering it for the home environment.

You can enhance your indoor living space with casual furniture or bar stools (counter stools) and perhaps create your own mini cocktail lounge. Stools were once only made from solid wood materials but now can be obtained in materials such as chrome, plastic, aluminum and micro-meshed materials. And the color is up to you as most permutations of the color spectrum can be had. Do bar stools have to match kitchen table? Modern indoor bar stools have clean sleek geometric lines and are generally made from chrome with leather upholstery seating. For the outdoors the casual furniture or bar stool we choose must be more resilient than their indoor counterparts. Aluminum and wrought iron furniture is best for withstanding the weather but cane and wooden bar stools are used too although they require more maintenance. Aluminum bar stools are the best as they are so easy to move about due to their light weight and their big advantage is that they are rust proof, so a drop of rain will not harm them. Stylish wrought iron bar stools provide a very sturdy seating arrangement and will be suitable in areas subjected to strong winds or heavy gusts because they will not topple over. Wicker, bamboo and rattan outdoor casual furniture is less popular but they possess a natural beauty of their own which is attractive and will decorate any patio, poolside or balcony. Wooden outdoor bar stools, tables, rocking chairs and other casual furniture are naturally beautiful but do require tender loving care.

Height adjustable bar stools

Wooden counter stools made from hardwoods such as maple, beech, cherry or oak can be found for about $60 each. An ultra modern bar stool will have swivel feature plus arm, back and foot rests and will allow you to adjust the seat height by 8 - 10 inches but why you might want to have this feature I do not know. A disadvantage of the back rest is that you lose the ability to just slide on, slide off the bar stools from any direction.
