The floating glass shelf

The new and modern style is to use floating shelves as designer features, with added bonus of the shelves being practical storage outlets. One type of floating shelf uses an aluminum track, slightly thicker that the glass and this is secured directly onto the wall, in position to receive the shelf. In effect it is a narrow track for the glass and it runs the full length of the shelf. Once secured to the wall the glass shelf fits snugly into the channel or track. Tiny support screws on the underside of the track are then tightened to support the ‘floating’ shelf. The glass shelf appears to be emanating from the wall.
