Benefits of drinking tea

The best way of losing weight is to eat sensibly and to take exercise regularly but sometimes you need a little help along the way and a good weight loss tea is often the help you need. Sometimes of course these teas promise things that they can’t deliver but one slimming tea that I have found that does work for me is Pu Erh tea. It may not work for everyone but I have found it very beneficial in my strivings to keep my weight under control.

Weight loss teas

It is said that all teas promote weight loss and it is true that it is a low calorie drink so long as nothing extra like milk or sugar is added to it. It can definitely hold its own against the sugary drinks of commercial retailers. It also seems to be a fact that caffeine helps to stimulate the metabolism and that polyphenols seem to aid in the digestion of fat therefore may help to burn off the calories.

Promoting weight loss

Teas that promote weight loss

Pu-Erh tea as well as helping in the reduction of weight may also be a factor in helping to prevent the absorption of fat into the blood stream and therefore contributing to a decrease in cholesterol levels. There is also evidence to show that this tea increases your endurance during exercise which may help in the battle of weight.

Loose green tea

There are many different types of tea available on the market today. Loose green tea is one that has received particular attention in the recent years being promoted as a healthier alternative to Indian or Black tea. It contains formidable antioxidants that have been shown to lessen the occurrence of some cancers particularly those of the bladder, stomach and colon. Green tea applied to the skin has also been shown to slow the changes from skin cancer and to protect the skin. In addition it is beneficial as a means to aid in the prevention of strokes as it appears to thin the blood.

Caffeine count concerns

Caffeine and other concerns

Some people may have concerns about the amount of caffeine in Green tea. Although these teas contain caffeine, they actually contain much less than coffee 100-120mg., Black tea 40mg., Pu-Erh and green tea 20mg. They are less refined than your morning breakfast tea and unoxidized which means they still include their antioxidants and many nutrients which help to promote good health.

Tea store

Note: it is important to ‘brew’ your own green tea (instead of buying the ready-made variety) from the dried leaves or a tea bag and to refrigerate it when cool to preserve the nutrients. These will gradually dissipate after a period of time. Ensure that your tea or bags are stored in an airtight storage box to maintain their quality.

Making tea

Brewing your tea

It is important to use pure water when brewing the weight loss tea as any impurities or additives like fluoride can affect the taste of the tea. Try and use spring water or good quality well water, and failing that if you are in the countryside then you may wish to use filtered rain water.

Taste and good flavor

Teapots are the best way of getting all the taste and goodness from your tea, preheat the teapot using a small amount of boiling water , tip this away and add either loose tea leaves or teabags to the pot. Boil the water. It is said that if you use boiling water you will get a slightly bitter taste from the tea whereas if you let the kettle sit for a couple of minutes after boiling before pouring it onto the leaves, the tea will be less bitter and more palatable. It is debated that using boiling water and letting it steep for a while increases the antioxidants and therefore the health benefits.

Steeping tea

Let the tea steep for 2-3 minutes before pouring into a fine china cup from a tea set, enjoy!

Drinking tea for your health

Teas that may be enjoyed with some health benefits include a huge variety of herbal teas, red berry, ginger, chamomile, peppermint and many others. These are available either from commercial suppliers or can be made from various plants and herbs from the back yard. Please be very sure of your plants before you use them as many are highly toxic and can be very damaging or even fatal. Many commercial teas are organically grown and produced and are nutritious and very delicious. Many aid restful sleep or contribute to lower blood pressure, help digestion or wake you up in the morning but the main weight loss tea is Green tea or Pu-Erh.
